BESCOM follows a monthly billing cycle, with meter readings taken once a month. Usually, the bill for every month is generated by the 6th of the next month
How are BESCOM bill charges calculated?
BESCOM bill charges contain three parts
- Fixed charges: Minimum bill amount to be paid based on the sanctioned load. Currently, the fixed charges for residential connections are Rs 120 per KW (kilowatt) upto 50KW load. A typical sanctioned load for a residential BESCOM connection is usually between 3kW and 5kW for a 2 or 3 BHK apartment.
- Usage charges: Rate per unit charged. The current rate is 590 paise per KWh (kilowatt-hour) of usage for residential connections
- Additional Charges: Taxes, cess, and any arrears
